There are kinds of gel card and each one have the different use and function.Below is the normal kind coombs gel card which normal use in hospital and laboratory.

1.The gel shall allow a free passage for the unagglutinated red cells to pellet at the bottom of the microtubes when centrifuged to exhibit a distinct negative reaction.

2.The gel shall be able to keep strongly agglutinated red cells completely remaining the top to exhibit a 4+ reaction.

3.Lesser reactions shall be proportionately obstructed to leave a trail of agglutinated cell trapped in the gel enabling the reaction to be graded.

4.The gel shall be able to hold the reactions in place for later review for at least a week.

5.Inversion of the microtubes shall not cause the contents to be dislodged which may result in discrepancy between initial reactions obtained and reactions reviewed later.

6.The gel card must be compatible and used on the existing equipment: Gel Card Centrifuge & Incubator.

7.The gel card must be compatible and used on the current existing reagents: Antibody Screening Cells and Antibody Identification panel cells).

8.Test sample can be used either on EDTA blood or drawn plain tubes.

9.Vendor must provide 1 unit of floor standing Fully Automated Immunohematology System for the gel card.
